Behavioral:
Groups are finishing their designs and prosthetic prototypes, and taking pictures for the engineering design notebooks. They are also utilizing light sensors to program the Lego NXT robots to follow a set path.
Affective:
Students, while still friendly and helpful to those in other groups, are now more motivated and competitive. This is still a fun but much more intense group of young engineers.
Cognitive:
Some students have requested use of the COE computer lab and 3D printers during the upcoming week – afterschool of course. Two groups, Lincoln H.S. and the School of the Future are also communicating via group texts or phone between Saturday sessions in an attempt to gain a competitive edge and a more streamlined workflow.
I also visited the Design Studio – an independent initiative led by Dr. Bracey – as requested by Omar and Rizwan. There one and two year veterans of Temple & MESA STEM outreach are working to organize a race utilizing student-designed, wearable tech. The team met to decide products based on time, cost, progress, and student/staff capabilities
