The power of synergizing your efforts with like minds is undeniable. I have been able to pick up everything from volunteer opportunities, funding & resources, professional development opportunities, to valued friendships by joining these professional organizations, sharing ideas, & pursuing a passion for STEM & teaching in general.

- Professional Organizations: Being a Noyce Scholar and E=MC2 member, I have attended many STEM professional development workshops offered by colleagues here at Temple University and those with the UPENN Science Teacher Institute.
- Temple University College of Engineering & MESA (Math, Engineering, Science, & Achievement) has allowed me to be a participant/observer and volunteer instructor for STEM Outreach Programs for the past 2 years. For Stemnasium Learning Academy, I spent six weeks of summer 2014 teaching mobile apps and robotics to children at Harambee Charter School and Kuumba Academy Charter School of Wilmington Delaware.
- UPENN FLL trains STEM teachers and others to become coaches for LEGO Robotics programs that both expose and immerse children in the engineering design process and computer programming and include hands-on, team building exercises that focus on core values as well as STEM. They are also offering a FLL in the City Grant to our new team that will cover registration, LEGO EV3 robot, field set, and tournament registration.
- Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education affords me and thousands of other educators classroom resources, open forum discussion of teacher issues, professional development, and community service opportunities.
- TEMPLE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TEMPLE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION Young Alumni Advisory Council New Network for Recent Grads “The goal of the council is to support new and emerging teachers, including through mentorships, professional development and simply having someone to call when you’re having a tough time.”
