Behavioral: Dr. Omar Fischer of Temple’s Bioengineering Department began the day with a presentation on fabrication of biomaterials. Students continued designing prototypes for the prosthetic arm competition with greater awareness of how man-made tech meshes functionally with systems of the human body . We are using an “open source” model where all are sharing ideas, supplies, etc. Each group will at some point focus on specific features central to their design.
Affective: While I am somewhat tired, after attending a Stemnasium Learning Academy event last night, the students are energized as usually. Many will also participate in and/or even help lead workshops –centered on integrating ed tech into K-16 classrooms - during the Google Summit later today and tomorrow.
Cognitive: What enthusiastic teen doesn’t like to talk about what he/she is learning! Group discussions are fun and extremely interactive, productive work sessions. Finally, Geraldo (only speaks Spanish) and I have worked out hand signals and nonverbal communications to aid our conversation.
